Following on from the success of the recent car scrappage scheme the Glass and Glazing Federation GGF have launched a petition to the government to introduce a windows scrappage scheme. The scheme aims to encourage householders to scrap their old inefficient windows in exchange for a grant from the government of £1000 towards the cost of professionally installed, energy efficient double glazing. Consumers would benefit from a £1,000 saving, a facelift for their home, lower gas and electricity bills and a more energy efficient home. The government would benefit from lower household emissions helping them to reach their target of reducing CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030.

If the scheme was to get the go ahead it would also be a huge help for the glazing industry which has been in decline for the last couple of years due to the downturn in the economy. Research shows that direct sell windows and doors fell by 12% in 2008 and then by a further 14% in 2009. Analysts are predicting that demand will fall by a further 10% in 2010. The scheme would give the industry a much needed boost and would help to protect jobs.

At Conservatory Outlet a specialist in the manufacturing and installation of Conservatories, Orangeries, Double Glazing and Replacement Windows and Doors we are fully supporting the scheme and believe it is up to each one of us to look after the environment around us and preserve it for generations to come. We believe that the scheme would be highly beneficial for consumers, the government and the double glazing industry as a whole. If you want to support the Windows Scrappage scheme or to find out more information you can find the petition on the Prime Minister’s official website at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/windowscrappage.

Conservatory Outlet are fully supporting The Glass & Glazing Federations (GGF) petition to lobby the government to introduce a windows scrappage scheme. The scheme aims to encourage householders to scrap their old poorly insulated windows in return for a grant for £1000 from the government towards the installation of new energy efficient windows. The ePetition is set up on the Prime Ministers Official website www.number10.gov.uk and you can sign the petition for the windows scrappage scheme at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/windowscrappage/.

In an effort to combat global warming the UK government has set a target of reducing CO2 levels by 30% by 2030. The Windows Scrappage Scheme would help the government meet these targets by acting as an incentive for UK households to replace their old inefficient windows with new energy efficient, well insulated windows.

Up to a massive 25% of the heat generated in a house can be lost through inefficient windows. This is not only harmful to the environment but also increases the cost of a households gas and electricity bills considerably. By replacing inadequate poorly insulated windows you will be helping the environment and saving money on your utility bills.

If the Windows Scrappage Scheme gets approved by the government consumers would save £1000 on replacing inefficient windows in additional to any current offers available from your local Conservatory Outlet., they would have lower gas and electricity bills and their homes would receive a facelift. The Government would benefit from being a step closer to meeting their energy saving targets and they would also be able to reclaim some of the grant money in VAT.
