Glasstalk is nearly ‘SOLD OUT” with 3 weeks to go…


Installers, fabricators and suppliers are continuing to book their places at GlassTalk, the networking event that was launched when Glassex was postponed in March, with numbers approaching the total reached in March but with 3 weeks to go.

Following the simple, effective format established at the first event, the goal is for more than 200 glass and glazing professionals to take part at the next GlassTalk, which will take place on Tuesday 3rd November at the de Vere Daresbury Park Hotel in Cheshire. Following requests there will be more ‘speed networking’ sessions to ensure that everyone attending has the opportunity to meet; the ‘On the Couch’ chat sessions will also be slicker with a number of powerful discussions with key industry personnel, with the audience definitely encouraged to participate.

“We learned a lot at the original GlassTalk, not least that it was a very popular format,” explained co-organiser Paul Godwin, who hosts the On the Couch sessions. “Guests formed serious and lasting business relationships that have resulted in thousands of pounds-worth of business being written. This time we are encouraging more guests, who will bring more opportunities. This is unashamedly about doing business – but definitely mixed with pleasure.”

Networking sessions take place throughout the day, interspersed with On the Couch guests that will discuss key issues such as Pheonixing, irresponsible supply agreements and the open wound that is glass pricing led by Steve Sutherland of Dortech, who posted the protest petition on the Downing Street web site.
With most of any net profits being donated to charity, costs are kept low and affordable, with a 24 hour package, including all meals and accommodation, for just £150 plus VAT.

A final word of warning from Paul Godwin: “Our experience last time out was that there was a massive rush in the last few days, during which a third of the available places were booked. Don’t leave it until the last minute as numbers are limited.”

When Glassex was moved to a date later in the year many in the industry felt that it was an important loss to the industry not just as a show but as a networking event. With this in mind Matthew Glover (Conservatory Outlet), Andrew Glover (West Yorkshire Windows) and Jon Twigge (RoofWright) came up with the idea of the glazing industry’s first networking event. The result is and was GlassTalk.
